Pinztronix- The Ultimate Civilian Conversion Ignition System For Pinzgauer

A complete Pertronix-based ignition system is now available for  your gas powered Pinzgauer. This ignition conversion can be done in a few hours with basic hand tools and a timing light. There are only 3 basic parts in the kit- a new distributor w/wires, ignition coil, and voltage converter. Performance is outstanding at only $585, which includes shipping via USPS.

PinzTronix advances timing on a curve based on engine RPM, similar to the original Bosch ignition, using weights (and electronics). The system comes with a pre-assembled harness that is ready to install, and only 4 connections need to be made. New spark plugs, spark plug wires, and all various small parts needed to complete installation are also included. No drilling required. A voltage converter is required since Pertronix does not produce 24 volt ignitions.

The ignition coil is matched to the module and is designed to ramp up quickly to fire a high-voltage spark with precise accuracy. The power converter is rated at 20 amps at 12 volts DC, and can also power a phone charger. The converter power source lead wire simply plugs into the fuel solenoid harness and doesn’t require any other original Pinzgauer ignition wiring. All electrical connections are crimped and soldered by hand for dependability.

Pertronix parts are used in this system based on the fact that Pertronix has a long history of durability and dependability, and replacement parts are easily available. This system uses a premium Flamethrower III module which isn’t polarity sensitive, this means that it won’t burn up the moment it is connected wrong, which is virtually impossible with this kit since it comes pre-wired. You can also leave the key on without burning the unit up, unlike some other Pertronix ignitions. Note- This ignition isn’t compatible with current fuel injection systems.

It is recommended that you have previous experience replacing distributors, know how to use a timing light, and can locate TDC on the compression stroke of cylinder #1 before ordering this ignition system. PinzTronix will not solve other mechanical and carburation problems with your engine, such as worn rings, improper valve adjustments, wrong carb settings, and could actually amplify problems through better ignition performance.
